Faces and stories of criminals locked up in 2021: Part I – Stoke-on-Trent Live

Murderers, killers, rapists, perverts and drug-dealers have all been jailed at the region’s courts in 2021.

They were all locked up after committing heinous crimes across North Staffordshire.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Stafford Crown Court, and North Staffordshire Justice Centre have all continued to operate through the coronavirus lockdowns.

And StokeonTrentLive has had reporters and photographers there to report on the punishments being handed out.

Now – to mark the end of 2021 – we take a two-part look back at some of the criminals sentenced in the past year. This first part covers the period from January to June.

Andrew Hillman

Andrew Hillman

Pervert mechanic Andrew Hillman was jailed – after downloading 168,381 indecent images of children.

The 50-year-old downloaded the sick images on eight separate devices. They showed young children, including babies, being sexually abused and tortured.

A search warrant was executed at the defendant’s home on February 26, 2019.

Hillman, of Wheatfields, Bradeley, was jailed for nine months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

He was also given a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order to protect the public and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

Kurt Dixon

Violent Kurt Dixon acted like a ‘wild animal’ as he launched a savage attack on two relatives – leaving blood splatters on the floor, walls and ceiling.

The 25-year-old, of King Street, Cross Heath, had a ‘disagreement’ with his dad’s partner and began repeatedly punching her in the face after pushing her on a sofa.

His dad intervened to try to stop the frenzied attack but was punched and bitten.

The defendant was jailed for five years and four months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Nathan Totton

Sex offender Nathan Totton, of Biddulph, was hit with a six-month jail sentence after staying overnight with his mum-of-three girlfriend.

The 26-year-old is banned from having unsupervised contact with under-16s due to him being on the Sex Offenders’ Register and subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

It came after he was jailed for three years in 2017 after being convicted of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and sexual activity with a child …….
