The first Trend Diabetes in-person event for almost two years has been described as a “reunion of friends”, as more than two hundred delegates came together to learn about the latest best practice in diabetes nursing.

The London leg of the organisation’s National Conference 2022, entitled ‘Guidelines Help or Hindrance?’, took place on Friday, June 10, at the Thistle Marble Arch hotel in London.

Speakers took to the stage to host sessions on some of the leading topics of debate surrounding diabetes care, with Jackie Fosbury talking about mental health, Dr David Strain presenting on end of life, Sue Craddock covering insulin adjustment and Stephen Thomas giving an update on autonomic neuropathy. There were also multiple workshops.

Trend Diabetes Co-Chairs Debbie Hicks and June James were thrilled to welcome people back to an in-person event after the last two National Conferences were held online due to the pandemic.

Debbie said: “Today has been a brilliant day having the first Trend Diabetes in-person event for two years on June’s birthday. There has been a real buzz, it has been like a reunion of friends, with brilliant networking.”

On Friday, June 17, the second National Conference will be held at the Birmingham Conference and Events Centre.
