ReStart has been confirmed as the integration partner of Better for the development and delivery of London’s Urgent Care Plan.

Led by OneLondon, the Urgent Care Plan allows 11million people in the capital to have their support wishes digitally shared with every health and care organisation in the region. It has been implemented across five integrated care systems (ICSs), 40 NHS trusts and 1,400 general practices.

Better were awarded the £3.1million contract to provide the shared care solution for London in December last year and now have Restart on board. ReStart have already provided a central integration engine which facilitated the migration of 52,000 end of life care plans.

This enabled the sharing of PDF plans across all five ICSs and the building of three query interfaces, ensuring urgent care providers can check for the existence of a care plan before critical decisions are made.

Andy Meiner, chief revenue officer at ReStart, said: “The ReStart team is delighted to be involved in the London Urgent Care Plan with Better as an important partner. Interoperability remains a key pillar in many flagship projects across the NHS right now.

“Being able to rely on an interoperability specialist such as ReStart means that all patient records are maintained accurately with systems and dataflows designed to improve patient care across the London area.”

The complex mitigation strategy was quality controlled and audited at every stage through the integration engine by ReStart and as a result of their work, the London Care Record now has visibility of all care plans in PDF format to ensure patient wishes are always followed.

If a patient withdraws their consent to share data in the Urgent Care Plan, the integrations ensure their wishes are updated in real time to all downstream systems.

As the project moves into its next phase, the ReStart support service kicks in to proactively manage the interoperability flowing through the integration engine.

ReStart and Better partnered up before the Urgent Care Plan came to fruition, beginning their relationship back in June 2021 when they joined forces with the aim to help heath and care workers get easier access to real-time data.
